Economics Club
Economics Club aims to increase the awareness among the students in the area of Economics beyond the recommended syllabus. It provides a platform for all the students who are passionate about discussing, debating and designing economic developments, policies and announcements in the area of economics. The mission of this club is to instil interest among the students in the subject of Economics and help them to understand how economics is interlinked with the various fields. The Economics club intends to orient the students and enhance their knowledge also on the world economy.

The resource person for the webinar was Dr. Pranav Shastri.
Mr. Pranav Shastri, Master Trainer at Wiley, explained about Bitcoins – a digital currency and made us aware of the latest news and trends surrounding the future money. Also it will assist you in making an informed decision on whether or not to invest in bitcoins.

Kavitha Iyer
‘Wisdom Webinar Series’ on “Countering Fake News” on Zoom on 4th February 2022.
The resource person for the webinar was Ms. Kavitha Iyer.
Ms. Kavita Iyer went into great detail about how to combat fake news, which has the potential to mislead and alter people’s beliefs and understanding, posing a threat to society. She used a variety of examples to demonstrate whether the news is fake or not.
The webinar was quite informative and fascinating since it taught the students and the participating audience how to recognise false news by utilising certain strategies and websites that are readily available to us.

Workshop on Excel and G.S.T.
G.D. Jalan College in collaboration with the ‘Department of Economics’, of Maniben Nanavati Women’s College Mumbai, organized a 10 days’ Workshop from 26th May, 2020 to 4th June,2020 on “Excel and GST” for the benefit of students. This helped the students to learn excel and GST on a virtual platform during the lockdown period.
GST and Excel Workshop provided an opportunity for the students to recognize their strengths and gaps in the management of GST. They also learnt the key concepts of GST concepts and their practical applications.
In Excel sessions, students gained theory and practical knowledge of using Excel in day-to-day life.
National Webinar on ‘Opportunities and Challenges of Indian Economy’
Ghanshyamdas Jalan College of Science, Commerce and Arts and Department of Economics of Maniben Nanavati Women’s College in collaboration with Indian Economic Association organised a National Level Webinar on ‘Opportunities and Challenges of Indian Economy post COVID – 19’, on 6th July, 2020. The principal of Maniben Nanavati Women’s College Dr. Rajashree P. Trivedi and Director and I/c. Principal of Ghanshyamdas Jalan College, Dr. Rajeshwari Ravi inaugurated the event with a motivational speech.
Prof. D.K Madan explained the various opportunities and challenges post covid-19 scenarios such as India’s GDP growth, Unemployment rate, Agriculture sector, and Indian Banking sector, etc.
Prof. V.K Malhotra also shared their views on India’s policy framework by the government post-COVID-19 situation. He also stated that the government must develop a strategy and a 5-year action plan by listening to different companies.
More than 500 participants from different states attended this national webinar.

The resource person for the webinar was Mr. Purv Shah, Stock Consultant & Financial Market Trainer.
Mr. Purv Shah explained the importance of savings and investments. He even explained the terms Redherring Prospectus, Equity Shares and elaborated on how the primary market was established and the birth of the secondary market is taking place.
The students and the other audiences learnt about the day-to-day functioning of a stock exchange and financial market.
