Zero tolerance

IMPLEMENTATION OF GUIDELINES OF STATUTORY/REGULATORY BODIES

Ghanshyamdas Jalan College abides with the rules established by statutory/regulatory bodies for the prompt resolution of student complaints, including situations of sexual harassment and ragging. The college does a good job of upholding the Code of Conduct, which requires students to act in a dignified and disciplined manner both within and outside of the college campus.

POLICIES AND MECHANISM FOR ZERO TOLERANCE

The Ghanshyamdas Jalan College has a clear policy and procedure for promptly resolving student complaints, including situations of sexual harassment and ragging.

  1. Zero Tolerance Policy against Sexual Harassment
Ghanshyamdas Jalan College supports a policy of zero tolerance for sexual harassment. We adhere to the POSH Act of 2013 and the National Commission for Women’s policy. The College is committed for providing a sexually harassment-free environment because it cares about the safety and well-being of both its staff and students. All forms of unlawful sexual harassment are categorically prohibited by the College.

The Sexual Harassment cases (if any) of the campus are resolved according to the “Handbook on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act 2015”.

The handbook can be referred by clicking the following link: https://wcd.nic.in/act/handbook-sexual-harassment-women-workplace.
Female students may also make a complaint of sexual harassment with the Ministry of Women & Child Development by visiting the website at the following address: http://www.shebox.nic.in/home/displayDocument?filename=how-to-use-shebox.pdf.

The Women Cell organises talks and seminars to promote gender equality. Women Cell addresses the issues (if any) of the College’s female students and educates them on women’s rights.
However there is no such case during last 5 Academic Years.

  1. Zero Tolerance Policy against Ragging:

Students of Ghanshyamdas Jalan College have the option to file complaints offline, online, or through campus complaint boxes. The Grievance Redressal Committee of the College resolves any complaints from students. Ragging is used to establish dominance among recently enrolled students or students who are in any other way viewed as junior or inferior by their other students. The college has a strong Anti-Ragging Committee that rigorously forbids ragging in any setting.

  • Based on the “UGC Regulation on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institution, 2009,” all potential instances of ragging in college are resolved (if any).
  • The regulation can be referred by clicking: https://www.ugc.ac.in/oldpdf/ragging/minuterag230409.pdf
  • However, there is no such case during the last 5 Academic Years
